How to calculate the cost of PCB circuit boards
There are various factors that have always affected the price of a PCB board. The price of PCB is something that many buyers have been confused about. Many people also wonder how these prices are calculated when placing orders online. JB PCB manufacturer will take you there below. Let’s talk about the components of PCB price:
1. Different materials used in PCB cause price diversity. Taking ordinary double-sided panels as an example, the sheet materials generally include FR4 , the thickness of the board ranges from 0.2mm to 3.0mm, and the copper thickness varies from 0.5oz to 3oz. , all of which have caused a huge price difference in sheet materials; in terms of solder mask ink, there is also a certain price difference between ordinary thermosetting oil and photosensitive green oil.
2. Different surface treatment processes lead to price diversity. Common ones include: OSP (anti-oxidation), lead-sprayed tin, lead-free tin-spray (environmentally friendly), gold plating, immersion gold and some combination processes, etc. The prices of the above processes become more and more expensive.
3. The price diversity caused by the different difficulty of PCB itself. There are 1,000 holes on both circuit boards. If the hole diameter of one board is greater than 0.2mm and the hole diameter of the other board is less than 0.2mm, there will be different drilling costs; if the two circuit boards are otherwise the same, but the line width and line spacing are different, one will The average type is greater than 4mil, and the type is less than 4mil, which will also cause different production costs; secondly, there are also some designs that do not follow the ordinary board process, which also charge extra money, such as half holes, buried blind holes, plate holes, and buttons. Printed carbon oil.
4. Different thicknesses of copper foil cause price diversity. Common copper and platinum thicknesses are: 18um (1/2OZ), 35um (1OZ), 70um (2OZ), 105um (3OZ), 140um (4OZ), etc. The higher the copper foil thickness, the more expensive it is.
5. Customer’s quality acceptance standards. Commonly used ones are: IPC2, IPC3, enterprise standard, military standard, etc. The higher the standard, the higher the price.
6. Mold fee and test stand. (1) Mold costs. For samples and small batches, PCB board factories generally use drilling and milling shapes, so there will be no additional milling fees. When making large batches, they require mold punching, so there is a set of mold costs. , the board factory generally quotes a price of RMB 1,000 and above; (2) Testing fee: The sample is generally tested by flying probe, and the board factory generally charges a testing fee ranging from 100 to 400 yuan; for batch testing, a test rack is required, and the test rack is generally a board The factory's quotation is between 1,000-1,500 yuan.
7. Price differences caused by different payment methods. The shorter the payment time, such as cash payment, the lower the price.
8. Order quantity/delivery time. (1) The smaller the quantity, the more expensive the price, because even if you are making 1PCS, the board factory has to prepare engineering documents and film production, and every process is indispensable; (2) Delivery time: the data delivered to the PCB factorymust be complete ( GERBER information, the number of layers of the board, board material, board thickness, surface treatment, ink color, character color and some special requirements must be written clearly)
From the above discussion, it is not difficult to see that the diversity of PCB processing prices has its inherent inevitable factors. This article can only provide a rough price range for reference. Of course, the specific price should be directly contacted with the PCB manufacturer.
